Under $100 / North America

Between the Blue Ridge and the Appalachian Mountains, the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia is a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year. The scenic landscapes make the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors and take in the fresh mountain air.

Shenandoah is known for its historical site,s like the Edinburg Mill. The mill, built in 1848, has been transformed into a museum that showcases the culture of Shenandoah. Exhibits include agriculture, civil war artifacts, transportation and home life. Admission to this museum is a donation of $3 per person.

National Bridge State Park is a great place to visit to get in some exercise. Thomas Jefferson once owned this park, home to a massive natural limestone bridge carved out by Cedar Creek. Trails link the bridge to the Monacan Indian Village that has a living history program to get a true feeling of the past. Demonstrations show visitors how the Monacan people survived with the resources around them. Admission to the park is $8 per person.

After a long day in the park, stop by the local breweries, like Basic City and Stable Craft Brewing, to enjoy some of the local hops and grab some food. Stable Craft also offers overnight accommodations at the Hermitage Hill Farm for travelers who want to visit the brewery only a short walk away. Pricing for the suites must be requested through the website.

A trip to Shenandoah can easily be done for less than $100 with the low-cost attractions, historical sites and natural parks to hike in.
