Shreveport is located in northwest Louisiana, not far from the Texas state line. With plenty of historic and cultural attractions, follow our tips for seeing the city on less than $100 per day.
Start your day with breakfast at Strawn’s Eat Shop. A local institution, Strawn’s has served diner-style grub since 1944. Breakfast entrées cost $4.50–10. Go for a stroll at Caddo Park. Here you’ll find multiuse trails and a nature center.
Go to Crawdaddy’s Kitchen for lunch. Known for its crawfish, the restaurant offers lunch specials starting at $7.49. There are other Cajun classics if seafood isn’t your preference. Visit the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. The museum features a diverse mix of works from paintings to ceramics. Admission is free and includes entrance to the on-site botanical gardens. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
Experience traditional Cajun-Creole dishes at Marilynn’s Place. Located in a converted gas station, the casual spot serves up classics, including jambalaya, gumbo and po’boys. Dinner costs about $10–15. Grab some beers at Great Raft Brewing. Opened in 2013, the craft brewery offers three year-round beers and a rotating selection of seasonal and limited-batch brews. Small pours start at $2.
There are plenty of annual events and festivals in Shreveport. Check the calendar before your visit.
