Under $100: Skye, Scotland

This is a fantastic part of Scotland. Skye is breathtaking and has many sights to see. It’s best to rent a car to visit all of the sites or you’ll have to figure out the bus schedules and plan your time around it.

First thing to do in the morning is visit Fairy Glen. It’s a cute area with lots of greenery. It has a mystical feel to it and if you visit it first, it might be free of the crowds of tourists throughout the day. It’s perfect to drive through because the roads wind around grassy hills with small ponds in between. It’s said these ponds are portals to another world.

The best views of the Isle will be at Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls. While driving, there is a car parked and labeled as the area. Stop here and walk to the edge of the cliff and look at the beautiful scenery. This is a great time to take photos. When people think of Scotland and the beauty of the nature, this is usually what comes to mind.

After, drive to Dunvegan Castle. Castles are always a joy to visit when traveling through Europe. There are so many castles in the continent, but each one is special and has its own history and look to it. It’s only open until 5 p.m. and a ticket costs around $10.

Eat at the Skye Pie Cafe for dinner. It’s a convenient place to stop and get meat or veggies pies. They specialize in comfort foods and there are also accommodations for those that need a place to stay.
