Under $100: Tribeca, NYC

Grab breakfast at Maman, where you can grab a bakery item to go or stick around in the modern and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for breakfast. Options include beautifully constructed menu items like banana lavender waffles (cornmeal waffles with vanilla mascarpone, sliced bananas, fruit, lavender and candied walnuts) for $14 and a Mediterranean breakfast plate (roasted leek hummus, balsamic mixed greens, roasted cherry tomatoes, soft-boiled egg, olives, feta and toast) for $12.

Bookworms will want to head straightaway to Tribeca’s best bookshop for some browsing. The Mysterious Bookshop is known for its vast array of mystery classics, from modern picks to first editions. The store is also home to several mystery-themed book clubs.

To continue the literary theme, visit Poets House, a national poetry library and literary center. The venue hosts readings, workshops and more public programs — even walking tours. Poets House is free every day of the week.

Grab lunch at Edward’s, a small eatery with a laid-back, locals-only vibe and sidewalk seating. The lunch menu starts at $8 and includes a mix of salads and sandwiches, as well as a few heavier entrees like ricotta cheese ravioli in a butter and sage sauce and a western omelet with a salad and fries.

Visit the Poster Museum to flip your way through prints dated from the late 1800s onward. The huge space features thousands of works and you’ll find posters on just about every subject matter you could imagine. Visiting is free, as many of the posters are for sale.

If it’s a nice day, head to nearby Pier 25 to enjoy the weather. There’s a playground, plenty of open space, a mini golf course and boats. Sit back on the lawn and enjoy the sights and sounds of the river.

Get dinner at Distilled, a gastropub in a historic setting. Start off with a cocktail, like the Tribecan, which features bourbon, Hennessy, absinthe and chocolate bitters ($15). The restaurant additionally serves signature slushies, like the Woodford Belle, with bourbon, peach liquor and lemon. Soak up the libations with an appetizer of popcorn on the house, followed by one of the great main entrees starting at $22. Choose from a Wagyu burger, pan-roasted chicken breast, truffle fettuccine and more.
