- Historic District of Old Québec: The historic district is an example of a fortified colonial city.
- L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site: The site is the remains of an 11th-century Viking settlement in Newfoundland.
- Old Town Lunenburg: Established in 1753, Lunenburg is the best existing example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America.
- Rideau Canal: Located in Ontario, the canal was built for military purposes.
- Red Bay Basque Whaling Station: This archaeological site in the northeastern tip of the country displays the best demonstration of European whaling tradition.
Natural
- Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks: Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho National Parks are among the regions that make up Canadian Rocky Mountains Park.
- Dinosaur Provincial Park: The park in Alberta was the site of many important fossil discoveries.
- Gros Morne National Park: Located on the west coast of Newfoundland, the park provides an example of continental drift terrain.
- Waterton Glacier International Peace Park : This park spans Alberta and Montana in the United States to form the world’s first international peace park.
- Wood Buffalo National Park: Situated in the north-central region of the country, the park is home to the largest wild bison population in North America.
