After visiting the USS Midway Museum, it’s startling to think I lived in San Diego for three years before ever taking the opportunity to explore this gem. The giant naval ship sitting in the harbor is a staple of the skyline and offers wonderful insight into the history of the Navy in the region. It’s a fantastic, fun way to spend a few hours of your day.
Inside you’ll find a variety of exhibits throughout the decks, along with a Junior Pilot Program for kids. My favorite exhibit is easily the hangar decks, which showcase more than 30 World War II aircraft restored to top condition. They even let you climb into the cockpits! There’s also the Battle of Midway Theater and similar interactive displays. The museum has flight simulators if you think your stomach can handle it. Below deck, guests are allowed to see what daily life is like on a battleship. There are tours of the galleys, the mess hall and even the chapel.
Outside, tourists are treated to even more aircraft, with around 20 jets and helicopters on display. It’s here you can also take a peek at the Captain’s cabin. Admission to the USS Midway Museum is $21 for adults, and well worth the price.

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
