I visited Village Idiot Brewing Company, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, for a quick beer after a hike in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and bright atmosphere.
I visited Village Idiot midway through the winter season, when dark beers were still the main driving force for local brewers. My winter ale came with cinnamon sugar all along the rim, which added some sweetness to the bitter ale.
Aside from the beer, delicious in all forms I tried, the atmosphere and service at Village Idiot is not something to be ignored. As soon as we entered, friendly staff greeted us. While they were eager to serve us, they gave us the time we needed to look at the menu and make our choices.
We visited the brewery on a Sunday afternoon. I can’t say what kind of crowd it attracts on a weekend evening, but the brewery had enough people without feeling claustrophobic or crowded. The live music was pleasant to listen to as we sipped our beer and chatted.
Village Idiot Brewing Company is situated right on Mount Holly’s main street, making it easily walkable from several local restaurants and neighborhoods. I plan on making an effort to return in the near future to try some of the seasonal and other standby beers.
