When you walk through the doors to the Virtual Reality Theme Park in Dubai, it feels like there should be a giant neon sign saying “Welcome to the future!” Located on the second floor of The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest virtual reality theme park invites adventure seekers to ride roller coasters and play interactive games — all while wearing virtual reality glasses.

There are 18 different experiences to choose from that involve VR glasses, ranging from touring different cities around the world to getting up close to wild animals in the Arctic to battling the undead inside a scene from The Mummy. Most rides involve some type of movement coupled with experiencing the world through a VR lens, whether that is zooming down a county fair-sized roller coaster while you watch aliens float past from your spaceship or dropping 15 feet down while skydiving over the famous sights of Dubai.

While most rides have a size and height requirement, there are some available for children as well. Children as young as 3 years old can ride a carousel filled with soft pillows as they see playful anime animals singing and dancing through their glasses.

As far as theme parks go, this one is relatively inexpensive. It’s about $40 for a full day of unlimited rides for adults, and only $27 for kids. If you’re in Dubai and looking to avoid the blazing summer heat, the Virtual Reality Theme Park is one way to challenge your reality and walk away with a unique story to tell.
