Orlando was recently named GayCities’ City of the Year and there’s plenty to do in this destination during Pride Month. Here are a few events you won’t want to miss.
Girls in Wonderland
The month kicked off with a bang, May 30–June 3. Girls in Wonderland was the “largest celebration of gay women in Orlando.” Loads of live music from female DJs and world-famous performers all celebrated LGBTQ+ women.
One Magical Weekend
Disney fans didn’t miss One Magical Weekend, May 31–June 3. This event featured many international DJs and performers, and had additional daytime activities and other nightly events with a bit of Disney flair.
Orlando’s Tidal Wave Party
There were plenty of water-themed events at this May 30–June 2 soiree. There was a private party at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and a “Bearaoke” contest, two of the highlights.
Annual Pulse Remembrance Ceremony
This annual somber ceremony recognizes the nearly 50 lives lost June 12, 2016, in the horrific Pulse night club shooting. The memorial site is open throughout the year, but the June 12 ceremony was an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to come together in an effort to spread courage, strength and unity.
If you can’t make it to Orlando for any of these events, mark your calendar for Aug. 13–19, for Gay Days Orlando. One of the largest Pride celebrations in the entire world, Gay Days Orlando has been a tradition for nearly three decades. Activities take place all over the city and range from casual meet-ups to amazing pool parties.
