Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

Giants Causeway is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, and no trip would be complete without visiting it.

The basalt columns that extend into the sea have mystified locals and visitors for all time. Legend has it an Irish giant known as Finn McCool built the causeway to defeat a Scottish rival known as Benandonner in a battle to the death.

It’s completely free to visit, all you have to do is get transport from Belfast or wherever else you are. There is a visitors center where you will be asked to pay to see exhibitions or get an audio guide, but you are allowed to enter for free. However, it might be worth getting an audio guide or a guided tour if you have a particular interest in the site.

From the visitors center you have to walk a mile to the Causeway itself, something to bear in mind for those who are less mobile. Luckily, there is a bus service to ferry you up and down if you don’t fancy the walk.

When you’re down at the stones themselves, make sure you take the time to appreciate the incredible rock formations. This is not the kind of place where you just pop down for a photo.

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.
