Tips / Safety

New Year’s Eve is going to look a little different this year. With celebrations scaled back and reduced gatherings, people seek different ways to ring in the New Year. Whether spending the holiday in your hometown or going on a little getaway for a change of scenery, check out these cities to spend the holiday.

WalletHub released a report detailing the “Safest Places to Spend New Year’s Eve” by comparing the 100 biggest cities based on 15 key indicators of an enjoyable New Year’s Eve celebration.

According to the study, a city’s conditions for an ideal New Year’s celebration during the pandemic depends on a variety of factors, including COVID-19 cases, safety, quality of food delivery options and costs.

If you are looking for a city with the lowest COVID-19 cases, Honolulu is the place, with the fewest cases per 100,000 residents, followed by San Jose and San Francisco. The cities with the most cases are Lubbock, Texas; Hialeah, Florida; and Laredo, Texas.

For those concerned about safety Gilbert, Arizona, boasts the lowest property crime rate, while Oakland, California, is among the highest. Irvine, California, and Gilbert, Arizona, are among the cities with the lowest car theft.
