If you’ve ever cruised before, you’ve probably come back feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and, while sad the cruise is over, prepped to take on the demands of daily life anew. However, this was probably just a feeling, a vibe. You didn’t have a study to back it up — until now.
Cunard recently conducted a study aboard Queen Mary 2 in which researchers used biometric tools to analyze 40 guests during a trans-Atlantic crossing to see how their cognition and physiology changed after five days at sea. The study showed cruisers exhibited a near 30 percent improvement in short-term memory performance, a 125 percent improvement in problem-solving, and a 14 percent improvement in focus and attention. Additionally, study participants reported a 158 percent increase in feelings of relaxation, as well as a 35 percent decrease in physiological stress levels.
“This study reinforces what we have always known — a Cunard voyage is much more than just a holiday. Our thoughtfully curated enrichment programs, bespoke wellness experiences, world-class dining and renowned White Star Service combined with the opportunity to unwind and embrace the serenity of the ocean leave our guests feeling refreshed, inspired and reinvigorated,” said Katie McAlister, president, Cunard.
