What Can You Expect from 2024 Travel?

Travel is seemingly as unpredictable as ever, but Squaremouth can help with that. The travel insurance provider offered predictions for the coming year.

According to Squaremouth, 2024 will be the most expensive year on record for travelers, with the average cost of an international trip up by more than 20 percent, year over year, and up by more than 30 percent compared to 2021 prices.

However, those high prices don’t necessarily mean travel will slow. Squaremouth also found travelers anticipate needing to spend more to travel, and are willing to do so.

As far as popular destinations, Squaremouth sees European countries continue to attract travelers, with top destinations including France, Spain and Germany.

Wherever travelers go in 2024, they’ll be looking out for one important thing: adventure. More than 40 percent of travelers told Squaremouth they’re “looking for adventure” with their next trip — whether that means a safari, hiking, snorkeling, skiing or other similar activities.

As for concerns and worries beyond costs, Squaremouth predicts flight delays will continue to be an issue in 2024. Nearly 25 percent of all flights in 2023 were late, so be prepared.
