Looking for something fun to do in Kansas City this season? Whether you’re a local or just visiting, here are a few things to do in the city this August. From cultural festivals to events at the zoo, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.
Through Aug. 7, you can still catch a few of the Kansas City festivals and events that kicked off in July, including the Festival of Butterflies at Powell Gardens, as well as Grand Carnivale, which focuses on international cultures through an immersive summertime experience at Worlds of Fun theme park.
Later on in the month, if you’re willing to travel slightly out of the city, to Parkville, Missouri, you can take in the small-town culture at Parkville Days, Aug. 19–21, with crafts, carnival games and more. The same weekend, the Ethnic Enrichment Festival kicks off, with food, dance and music coordinated by the Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City.
Still need more? Grab tickets for Jazzoo, Aug. 26, at Kansas City Zoo. The one-of-a-kind party features food, drinks and entertainment at the zoo, all to support its operations and educational offerings. The event is “creative black tie” formal and features plenty of photo ops.
