While Tupper Lake may not get as much attention as nearby Lake Placid, it’s still worth a visit during your explorations of the Adirondacks. While you’re there, here’s what to do:
Stop by The Wild Center for an accessible exploration of the Adirondack wilderness. The site is home to a visitor’s center with educational exhibits that will appeal to both children and adults (don’t miss the resident otters!). Outdoors, visitors can explore trails of bridges that take you over the treetops to see the views, as well as well-maintained trails through forests leading to unique artwork and similar touches. Programming and guided activities are regularly on tap.
Stroll downtown and explore small local shops, museums and entertainment venues. The Adirondack Store & Gallery offers unique souvenirs, as well as high-end furnishings. The Tupper Arts Center hosts a gallery and gift shop open just about every day of the week (except Monday and Tuesday).
When you’re hungry, try casual Spruce and Hemlock Bakery and Deli, open for lunch only and also home to a gift shop. Or, for a sweet treat, try The Washboard Donut Shoppe, which uniquely shares its space with a laundromat. For something a little more upscale and open for dinner, try The Woodshed on Park, where the cozy, intimate atmosphere complements the small, inspired menu and specialty cocktails.
