California’s Disneyland Resort celebrates 70 years of fun this year, with the park’s big birthday kicking off in May.

The theme for the 70th celebration, which officially starts May 16, is “celebrate happy,” and there will be plenty of ways for guests to do so, with both returning fan-favorite and new experiences on deck.

Beyond new character attire and festive celebratory décor and projections found throughout the park, guests will also be able to find limited-time merchandise, collectibles, and food and beverage on offer.

Every evening, special appearances and entertainment, ranging from music and light displays to special parades, mark the occasion. These include the return of the Paint the Night parade to Disneyland Park, with its million-plus LED lights and colorful floats, as well as the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade. Multiple themed nighttime spectaculars, including the new World of Color show, are also planned, with fireworks enhancements on select nights.

New openings and debuts for 2025 include the cinematic presentation of Walt Disney — A Magical Life at the Main Street Opera House theater, as well as new additions to the Downtown Disney District, such as The Disney Wonderful World of Sweets shop and Parkside Market dining hall.
