Last month, a new boutique hotel situated within Glenwood Hot Springs Resort opened its doors to guests. Hotel 1888 welcomes travelers into the resort’s historic Stone Bath House, which still boasts features such as original fireplaces. At its construction, which cost only $100,000, the 19th-century structure featured 42 interior Roman baths, a casino and billiard parlor — as well as at-the-time, new-fangled electric lighting.

The brand-new Hotel 1888, meanwhile, offers an intimate 16 luxury guestrooms and suites, all adjacent to the resort’s Grand Pool, the largest hot springs pool in the world (the resort is home to a total of seven geothermal hot springs pools). Throughout each tastefully appointed room, nods to the property’s historic roots are scattered across the walls, with décor incorporating artifacts, postcards and photos.

“Hotel 1888 is ideal for relaxing getaways for couples and friends, wedding groups, executive and board retreats and incentive trips. Hotel 1888 guests are invited to relax in European-style elegance with complimentary breakfast in the 1888 Bistro, unlimited soaking in the seven mineral hot springs pools during business hours, and access to the full-service Athletic Club, also located in the Stone Bath House,” said Loretta Ayala, resort hotel manager, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.
