Brown-and-white stripes no more! After 123 years, the luxury retailer Henri Bendel will shutter all 23 brick-and-mortar stores this January. The brand was started by Henri Bendel in 1895 to cater to New York City’s elite. Now that it’s closing its doors, here’s what to purchase from the iconic brand before the opportunity is lost forever.

The Jetsetter Convertible Backpack

This iconic backpack is a best-seller for the brand, and you can easily see why. The chic bag can be worn as a backpack, crossbody or satchel and comes with convertible straps. Perfect for weekends away, the material is durable and water-resistant and touts the brand’s signature striped leather trim ($298).

Bijoux Leather Gloves

Lipstick red and ready to make a statement, these smooth leather gloves boast crystal detailing and 100 percnt cashmere lining ($148). Pair the leather gloves with this matching About Town Pouch to really make a splash at any event you show up to ($98).

Uptown Mini Color Blocked Satchel

This eye-catching bag comes in both red/pink and blue/green. The geometric shapes and patterns give the satchel a bold, refined look. There is a pushlock flap closure, exterior back slip pocket and removable crossbody strap. Better yet? You get a gift with purchase when you order the bag ($328).

Wristlet Color Blocked Pouch on a Chain

The perfect find for less than $100? This bright pink wristlet with signature stripes and a rose gold chain is sure to delight. To add even more flair, the back is bright red and bold. This little gem is ideal for a girls’ night out on the town ($98).

Waldorf Waterfall Earring

Henri Bendel knows how to do statement earrings. These gorgeous waterfall earrings dangle nearly four inches in length and shimmer with white, blue, red and pink gemstones in gold-plated brass. Oh la la! ($128)

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
