This year was busier than ever in the world of air travel, but with more people traveling, a U.S. government shutdown and weather incidents, it also meant some airlines really suffered with delays.
So, which five U.S. airlines were the most delayed this year?
Frontier Airlines takes the top spot at this less-than-coveted list, with a whopping 28 percent of its flights delayed by at least 15 minutes in 2025 alone. JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines weren’t too far behind though, with 25 percent of both airlines’ flights experiencing delays.
American Airlines and Alaska Airlines also suffered significant delay rates at 24 and 23 percent, respectively.
But globally? Ryanair takes the cake on that one. Twenty-nine percent of the European budget airline’s flights were delayed this year. Air France also experienced significant delays, as did easyJet, Lufthansa, Qantas, KLM Royal Dutch and Air Canada.
On average, 22 percent of flights globally were delayed by at least 15 minutes, and flights were delayed an average of 23 minutes.
The annual data was compiled by Flighty, a flight tracker passengers can join to provide real-time data of air travel. Flighty’s 2025 Passport Report spanned tens of millions of flights globally; Flighty travelers took more than 22 million flights this year.
