Planning a trip to Sydney, Australia, this summer? If you’ve already been to the destination and saw all the standard sites, add one of these new things to your itinerary.
1. Explore the arts at the new Pier 2/3.
Pier 2/3 opened its doors in March and is the new home for multiple arts organizations, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Theatre for Young People and Bell Shakespeare. The century-old pier’s revitalization as a new arts hub was two years in the making.
2. Grab a bite somewhere new.
New restaurants and watering holes always pop up around Sydney. Try the new Bar Mammoni for coffee or evening drinks. Duck Duck Goose is a fun spot for a bite to eat; the eclectic dumpling bar also offers live music in the evenings. Blackwood Bondi is a new brunch outpost from the famous Blackwood Pantry brand.
3. Attend Vivid Sydney.
After last year’s cancellation, Vivid Sydney is back as a premier festival, offering art, music and more for 23 days, May 27–June 18. In addition to concerts, light shows and art installations, the event also includes a series of talks on relevant cultural topics, such as one given by actor and singer-songwriter Troye Sivan on beauty, art and fluidity.
