JD Power’s 2025 North American Airport Satisfaction Survey came out earlier this fall and took a look at which airports made travelers happiest, during a year that set records for air travel passenger volume.
Despite the year’s many travel challenges, the survey found overall passenger satisfaction is up over last year, meaning maybe those travel challenges aren’t impacting passengers to as great a degree as might be assumed. The survey cited airports across the board improving their dining and shopping options, as well as making it easier for passengers to make their way through the airport.
“A few big capital improvement projects have now been completed and many more are underway or about to break ground. A decades long trend of bringing unique, local flavor to the passenger experience has positively impacted the airport experience with these local touches having a major influence on passenger satisfaction,” said Michael Taylor, managing director of travel, hospitality and retail, JD Power.
As for which airports ranked the highest in customer satisfaction, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport took the top spot among “mega” airports, with Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport not far behind. In large airports, Orange County’s John Wayne Airport performed the best. Among mid-sized airports, Indianapolis International Airport reigned supreme.
