In Nosara, Costa Rica, you’ll not only find coastlines with exceptional surf breaks, but also The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel, a family-owned and locally run boutique hotel offering travelers a comfortable stay.
Lifelong surfer and skier Jeff Grosshandler, owner, took his own experiences and ideas from ski resorts when he created The Gilded Iguana’s Surf Club and Hotel. The hotel is designed by and for surfers, a perfect surfers’ paradise. The hotel is located in one of Earth’s Five Blue Zones, meaning it offers fresh, locally sourced food and some of the cleanest air on the planet. Guests spend the day surfing and the night sharing gnarly surf stories, listening to music, enjoying delicious drinks and food, and spending time with other surf enthusiasts.
The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel is also one of the only surf hotels offering a ski-resort type structure.
Here’s an idea of what you’ll find at this hotel and surf club:
Expert Rentals
No matter what skill level you are, you can rent high-end boards from Channel Islands at the Surf Club. Surf Club trainers will help you choose the right board for your skills. The staff will also help you take your board, wash it and put it away when you are ready and done using it, or retrieve it when you are ready to catch some waves.
Lessons
Travelers and guests aged 6 and up can take surf lessons from local and experienced surf instructors who grew up riding Nosara’s waves. Instructors also assist with a rash guard and guide you through the waves depending on your comfort level.
Refreshments
Instead of hot chocolate at ski resorts, Surf Club offers smoothies and juices, more fitting for Costa Rica. The hotel even recently launched a new juice bar menu with immunity shots, smoothies, acai bowls and more.
