Traveling to Zürich this month? You have plenty of Christmas markets to visit. In fact, you could plan an entire trip around them.
To start, Polarzauber at Zurich Main Station is worth a visit, as it’s new for this year. Through Christmas Eve, the attraction delights with a Northern Lights installation, pop-up fondue restaurant and Baba Noel Lounge. Of course, you have typical market stalls, too, with more than 100 vendors selling food, gifts and more.

In front of Zurich Opera House, Wienachtsdorf Christmas Village similarly has more than 100 market stalls and is one of the largest Christmas markets in Zürich overall. Shop from handcrafted, local and artisanal goods while eating raclette and drinking gluhwein.
On a smaller scale, Zürich’s Christmas Village at Werdmühleplatz has about half the number of stalls but offers the spectacular Singing Christmas Tree, a tiered, tree-shaped stage on which choirs perform every day. Be sure to grab some roasted chestnuts and fresh pastries.

At Swiss National Museum, ILLUMINARIUM puts a modern twist on the traditional holiday market with food stands, a fondue chalet and cocktail bar, with holiday light shows accessible via paid ticket.
