It was once the tallest and largest LEED-CS Platinum-certified building in the world until 2025, but Shanghai Tower is still a beacon in the city. The skyscraper sits in Lujiazui, Pudong, within the financial district. Sightseeing decks are open to the public on the 118th and 119th floors, as well as the “Top of Shanghai” on the 121st floor, the highest observation deck in the world. Wander through Tianzifang, a picturesque neighborhood filled with more than 200 restaurants, boutiques and bars. You’ll also find craft stores, coffee shops and other trendy businesses, all within preserved local Shikumen architecture. © Silvia Nadotti | Dreamstime.com
Explore Fuxing Park, a sprawling, 10-hectare space filled with entertainers, mahjong players and tai chi artists. The original park was designed by the French in 1909, and you’ll see evidence of its origins in landscaped gardens. Look for the lotus pond and rose garden, too. © Fotokon | Dreamstime.com
