Interested in taking a spooky season road trip this month? Experts at RV Trader have some ideas as to where you should stop along the way, compiling a list of some of the spookiest highway exits throughout the United States.
Two Guns, Arizona
On I-40, Exit 230 in Arizona is home to Two Guns, an abandoned ghost town/previous roadside attraction with a zoo and trading post, and a history marred by murder and fire. The area is also home to what’s known as the Apache Death Cave, where more than 40 people died during an 1870s raid.
Sego Canyon and Thompson Springs, Utah
Take Exit 187 off I-70 in Utah to find more ghost towns and unsettling figures painted onto canyon sandstone.
Koreshan Settlement, Florida
Then, in Florida, take I-75’s Exit 123 to get to Koreshan Settlement, site of an 1800s commune. Now, the abandoned community’s preserved grounds sit within Koreshan State Park.
Other spooky highway exits that RV Trader recommends this month?
Exit 119 in Rochester, Nevada, an old mining town, and Exit 124B in Pennsylvania, which takes you to Centralia. There, an underground fire has been burning for decades and has forced out a large majority of the town’s residents.
