Last month, AmaWaterways announced a significant fleet expansion, with plans to grow its fleet to more than 50 ships over the next eight years. Currently, the brand operates 31 ships.

Of the planned new vessels, AmaWaterways promises 15 new ships for Europe, and more than 60 percent capacity growth outside of Europe, which includes further growth in Africa.

Currently, seven individual new ships have been announced, for debut between September 2026 and 2028, headed to destinations including the Nile, Danube, Mekong, Rhine, Douro and Rhône. The first of these to set sail will be AmaNubia, which joins AmaDahlia and AmaLilia on the Nile in September of this year.

AmaWaterways is already known for its high-end, exclusive river cruising experiences, and that experience has recently been further elevated through the expansion of its on-board wine lists and new culinary offerings, such as all-day dining options and signature dinners.

“Our expansion reflects strong demand across both our established and emerging markets,” said Catherine Powell, CEO, AmaWaterways. “River cruising is on a clear growth trajectory, and we are investing with purpose, expanding our global footprint while continuing to elevate the experience for our guests and our travel partners.”
