Banff transforms into a playground for night owls once the sun sets. The region hosts after-dark activities and events throughout the season.

Through Feb. 8, the region’s signature winter celebration SnowDays features a late-night component with evening gondola rides and night skiing. New for 2026, Flying Canoë Volant festival will be held Feb. 26–March 1. This indigenous-inspired winter festival draws inspiration from local traditions and will feature an interactive light show. Also new this year, Aroabora Music Festival takes place March 27–28 at Banff Train Station. The to-be-announced lineup will include local and international talent in the electronic music genre. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mt. Norquay, one of the Canadian Rockies’ most historic ski resorts.
Bear Street, affectionately known as the Après District, is home to some of Banff’s best happy hour spots, including Hello Sunshine, LUPO, Banff Social and Three Bears. During the season, SkiBig3 lift ticket and passholders and Mountain Collective and Ikon passholders receive special discounts at select spots.

There are plenty of after-dark winter activities in Banff. Head to Mt. Norquay for night skiing on Friday and Saturday during peak season. Night tubing is also available. Banff offers excellent stargazing opportunities and prime conditions for viewing the aurora borealis. With little light pollution, some prime spots include Johnson Lake, Norquay Lookout and Banff Sunshine Village. This season marks the last chance for travelers to witness Nightrise, an immersive digital art installation created in partnership with the Stoney Nakoda Nation. Nightrise will be available through March 29.
