Tips / Destination

If you’re planning a trip to Germany, transportation via car is one of the best ways to see the beautiful destination.

The land of Bach, Beethoven and Oktoberfest boasts several cities, each richer in history and great beer than the next. A road trip is the best way to take in the cities, the scenic countryside and everything in between.

Start your road trip in Frankfurt, located along Germany’s acclaimed Fairy Tale Road, its Wine Route and one of the oldest touring roads in the world, the Romantic Road.

From Frankfurt, head east to Stuttgart, a world-class European city filled with amazing architecture, culture, dining and art. The city is also home to the Cannstatter Volksfest, an ideal spot to enjoy traditional Oktoberfest celebrations. Or head west to Dusseldorf, a center of German advertising and fashion. Take in the vibrant nightlife, carnivals and shopping, or take advantage of the city’s proximity to Belgium, the Netherlands and other locations along the Rhine River.

A trip to Germany is not complete without a visit to the Bavarian capital of Munich, host to the world’s largest Oktoberfest. Drive through the breathtaking Bavarian Alps or through the area’s fairytale villages, castles and countryside.

If you find yourself in northern Germany, take a scenic drive to the charming port town of Hamburg, the country’s second-largest city.

In any direction you drive, you’ll find awe-inspiring castles, stunning natural landscapes and friendly, welcoming destinations that guarantee an authentic German experience.
