Costa Rica’s First-Ever Glass Suspension Bridge Opens … And You Can Walk It

Adventuring in Costa Rica just got a little more exciting with the opening of its first-ever glass suspension bridge. The record-breaking bridge looms over the cloud forests of Monteverde within Treetopia Park’s Sky Walk circuit.

Now, visitors can walk above the forest canopy on a transparent surface, offering uninterrupted views directly down into one of the country’s most biodiverse ecosystems. The 137-foot bridge stands 65 feet above the forest floor, suspended only by two main steel cables.

The bridge forms part of Sky Walk’s 1.7 miles of forest trails, comprising six suspension bridges woven through the cloud forests.

The new bridge is included within the standard Sky Walk admission.

Treetopia Park also offers other exciting experiences, including zip line tours, beginning with a TreeTram cable car up the mountain before journeying through the cloud forest on miles of zip lines. The park is also home to one of just five cableways in the country and the only one in Monteverde’s Cloud Forest, promising a relaxing ride through the canopy.

On the Challenge Course Tour, put your abilities and strength to the test through experiences like zip line biking, climbing trees, traversing “monkey bridges,” and soaring through the forest on a Tarzan swing.

The bridge’s opening coincides with efforts to protect Monteverde’s fragile cloud forest ecosystem. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve recently introduced a new, timed-entry reservation system, requiring visitors to book entry slots online in advance. This new system will manage visitor numbers, reduce pressure on trails and minimize disturbances to wildlife, reflecting Costa Rica’s longstanding commitment to balancing tourism growth with environmental conservation.
