Best known for its NASCAR stadium and beaches, Daytona, Florida, has often been perceived as that Florida beach city with chain hotels for travelers coming and going for races, conventions and a few days in the sun. But the city’s first-ever boutique hotel, Ambros Daytona, seeks to change Daytona’s reputation to one of design-forward, slow-minded travel.

Located in Daytona Beach Shores, the beachfront hotel opened this month featuring 50 guestrooms and suites with minimalist-inspired décor and a peaceful atmosphere for leisure and well-being. Accommodations range from queen rooms to king family suites, several of which include kitchenettes. Many rooms provide full ocean views, while each room and suite boast murals by local muralist Chris Nebel. The hotel’s signature scent, Apotheke White Vetiver, wafts through the property via diffusers, room sprays and bath amenities.
Guests will find a vibrant pool deck and lounge area with Blomus poolside daybeds and unobstructed views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The building, built in the 1960s, retains its original exterior while reimagining the interior to present that original beachside “inn” feel. This includes a brand-new seawall, parking lot, pool and pool deck, all enhanced with new landscaping, lighting and decorative railings.
Ambros Daytona also features a poolside café with light refreshments, wine, beer and coastal fare. In the near future, the hotel will introduce the adjacent Ambros Daytona Wellness Studio, a 1,200-square-foot space offering yoga, holistic massages, surf lessons and esthetician treatments.

Looking ahead, Ambros eyes other overlooked coastal towns in Florida, especially along the coast from St. Augustine to New Smyrna Beach.
