Explore fall in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, with the destination’s bevy of can’t-miss events.
The new Reed Glow Mine event at Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site in Midland makes its debut Oct. 17. For the first time ever, this site — known for the first documented gold discovery in the country — will welcome travelers for a walk-thru experience, with 25,000 lights brightening the mine and grounds. The event is one-night-only and $5 per person.

Then, there are multiple farm festivals lasting throughout the entire month. Visit a pumpkin patch or settle in for a wagon ride at either Deer Run Farm Fall Festival or Fall Festival at Almond Farm.
On weekends through Nov. 22, the Carolina Renaissance Festival serves up all the Renaissance-style entertainment, artisan wares and costuming your heart could desire. For history of a different flavor, consider attending a History & Haunts Walking Tour in downtown Concord, Oct. 2–24.
