Escape the snowy landscape of Chicago with a trip to Curaçao. As of December, the first non-stop flight to the island from the Midwest is available via American Airlines. The new flight operates weekly on Saturdays through April 2026.
The new option is far from the only one American Airlines brought to Chicago O’Hare International Airport last year, introducing 17 new destinations to the hub over the last 12 months. A handful of those new destinations are ideal for a winter getaway. Beyond Curaçao, other popular destinations American Airlines now serves from ORD include St. Croix (STX); St. Maarten (SXM); Guatemala City (GUA); and San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO).
Additionally, American Airlines increased service from once weekly to daily, for similar destinations like St. Thomas (STT); the Cayman Islands (GCM); Aruba (AUA); and Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR). It likewise increased service to Mexican destinations such as Cancun (CUN), Los Cabos (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR).
Currently, the airline offers more service from Chicago to the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico, than any other carrier. Last summer, it also upgraded the pre-flight experience at Chicago O’Hare, and enhanced the in-flight experience by assuring all routes were served by dual-class regional jets or larger.
