It’s official: American Airlines finally joins other U.S. airlines in offering passengers free, high-speed WiFi. In fact, the airline will offer this service on more aircraft than any other carrier in the world. Now, AAdvantage members can enjoy satellite-based WiFi across more than 2 million American Airlines flights a year, sponsored by AT&T.
The WiFi rollout will occur in phases. This month, free WiFi will be available across 100 percent of the airline’s narrowbody and dual-class regional fleets. By early spring, the service will be available on nearly every American Airlines flight. American Airlines’ new Boeing 787-9 and 787-8 aircrafts will also feature free WiFi.
To take advantage of the free WiFi, log in to aainflight.com and use your AAdvantage number and password, then select “Free WiFi” to start browsing. The new portal is designed for reliability, simplicity and speed.
Not an AAdvantage member? You can join for free. Sign up before your flight or in your seat. AAdvantage members not only receive free WiFi but also other benefits like priority boarding; earning miles toward elite status; and redeeming miles for award travel, upgrades and vacation packages.
“Free high-speed Wi-Fi isn’t just a perk — it’s essential for today’s travelers. That’s why we’re proud to begin rolling out this new offering, sponsored by AT&T, across the majority of our fleet,” Heather Garboden, chief customer officer, American Airlines. “Once roll out is completed, every AAdvantage® member can stay connected, stream and share almost anywhere their journey takes them for free.”
