Last month, Viking took delivery of one of its newest ships: Viking Eldir, a longship destined for the rivers of Europe. It was built specifically with excursions along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers in mind.
In classic Viking style, the longship features a Scandinavian design across its near-100 staterooms (including two-room suites), which will accommodate just fewer than 200 guests. Over the three decks, cruisers will find a sun deck with 360-degree views; an indoor-outdoor terrace and lounge at the ship’s bow; and further spaces like the ship restaurant, lounge and bar, all of which offer panoramic views.
Torstein Hagen, chairman and CEO, Viking, said, “With our exclusive docking locations, we proudly bring our guests closer to destinations along the great rivers of the world. Now, with the addition of our newest Viking Longship, we look forward to inviting even more curious travelers to explore Europe in Viking comfort.”
Through 2028, Viking will receive an additional 22 river ships, as well as 10 additional ocean ships by 2031. Over the next five years, that will bring Viking’s total fleet to 112 river ships and 25 ocean and expedition ships.
