Trends / Adventure

As travel companies get more and more creative with their offerings, outdoor adventures seem easier to come by. Several companies offer a unique twist on the typical vacation by organizing mountain bike tours and trips that involve lots of adventure, mostly from the seat of a bicycle.

These tour companies organize trips all over the world, and are geared toward active travelers with a sense of adventure. Naturally, the travelers are interested in seeing a region’s natural beauty first and foremost.

The companies organize trips all over the world, so travelers can visit new destinations they may have been too intimidated to check out by bike alone. Skilled guides plan and lead the trips, which are usually conducted in small groups. Most mountain bike trips are geared toward experienced riders, but a few companies do offer excursions for beginners.

Among the best mountain bike vacation companies are Sacred Rides, which has a wide variety of destinations and caters to both beginners and experts; Escape Adventures, which focuses on the American West; and Trek Travel, which prides itself on delivering a range of additional features and comforts.

Dark Skies in Texas: Where to See the Biggest and Brightest Stars

Clear nights in Texas allow for some of the best stargazing opportunities in the country. In spring, various locations across the state provide dark skies to not only see distant stars but also the Milky Way as it rises in the Northern Hemisphere. In fact, on April 8, 2024, Texas will offer prime viewing for the total solar eclipse, which will take place over Mexico, the United States and Canada. This eclipse will cover some areas of Texas in total darkness for more than four minutes, nearly twice the duration of totality during the 2017 eclipse.
