The city of West Palm Beach rings in the holiday season with a full lineup of events as part of its West Palm Wonderland celebration.

It all starts later this week, with the lighting of the world’s only 35-foot-tall holiday tree, created from 700 tons of sand — appropriately dubbed Sandi. Sandi is located on The Great Lawn, and visitors can check out the “tree,” as well as light shows all throughout the season. Then, at Heart & Soul Park, decorations delight and, on Dec. 6, a market and musicians welcome guests for a free event.

While you probably don’t think about ice skating as an option in southern Florida, that’s exactly what you’ll get if you head to The Ben Hotel. In addition to its winter tree forest and holiday market, the hotel is also home to the only outdoor, real ice-skating experience in the region, open through Jan. 4.

And don’t miss a stroll around Northwood Village, West Palm Beach’s historic arts district. On Dec. 12, the monthly Nights in Northwood arts walk is the perfect opportunity to snag a gift for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list.
