Fans of the classic Star Wars franchise have transformed the date May 4 to May the Fourth [Be with You] in honor of one of the film’s most iconic sayings: “May the force be with you.” Now, Las Vegas, also known as the Wedding Capital of the World, joins the fandom, turning the day into a destination wedding phenomenon.
“Couples today want more than a ceremony—they want a moment that reflects who they are and what they love,” said Lynn Marie Goya, Clark County clerk, who oversees the Wedding Capital of the World weddings tourism promotion campaign. “Las Vegas has always delivered on that promise, and now we’re observing the rise of weddings as shared cultural experiences. ‘May the Fourth [Be With You]’ is a perfect example of how we can turn a global fandom into a reason to travel, celebrate and get married here.”
Over the last couple years, wedding chapels and venues around town found an increase in May 4 ceremonies, so Las Vegas venues now offer themed packages to pair weddings with a one-of-a-kind Las Vegas experience.
Choose from three packages: A New Hope Elopement, intentionally timed at 4:04 p.m., with themed vows and a lightsaber arch exit; The Force Binds Them Unity Ritual, featuring a ceremony with a desert background to help channel a galaxy far, far away; or The Imperial Luxury Wedding Premium Experience, which offers a larger celebration for up to 75 guests with a full reception, galaxy projections, “Binary Sunset” ceremony music and themed cocktails.
Cactus Collective Weddings offers an exclusive wedding package for just four couples. These couples will be transferred to a cinematic dry Nevada lakebed for a curated elopement inspired by the sci-fi romance. The ceremony will feature white pillars, white florals and a custom vow exchange officiated by a character-inspired “galactic royal” minister.
Book the chapel’s Yoda One For Me package for a playful yet elegant ceremony combining costumes, themed music, a professional photographer and an extended photo session.
This chapel offers a theatrical Intergalactic Force package, which includes a Darth Vader officiant, themed décor, curated vows, special effects, limo services, a multimedia demonstration and the couple’s name in lights over the jumbo Las Vegas Boulevard marquee.
