Traveling to destinations used as famous movie or television backdrops is nothing new (remember how everyone flocked to Dubrovnik for the first time after watching Game of Thrones?), but a new feature from Expedia may make the planning process a little easier.
The brand’s new Set-Jetting travel hub provides inspiration and ideas for hotels to book and activities to add to your itinerary, based on upcoming or trending movies and TV shows ranging from Nobody Wants This to Wuthering Heights, Moana to People We Meet on Vacation.
“Set-Jetting started as a trend in Expedia’s annual travel trends report four years ago and is now a multi-billion-dollar business,” said Melanie Fish, vice president, global communications, Expedia. “It makes sense for Expedia, as the one-stop shop for travel, to create a Set-Jetting shop so people can easily get from their favorite British period drama to the U.K. countryside or from watching people on TV at a tropical island resort in Thailand to staying at a tropical resort in Thailand.”
Expedia also reported more than 80 percent of Gen Z and millennial travelers now actively plan trips based on television and movies, with more than half of all travelers saying their interest in the trend increased.
