Iceland entices travelers with new experiences and attractions for 2025.

 

Adventure Excursions

Adventurous travelers may book a unique heli-rafting tour with Arctic Rafting. The experience begins with a helicopter ride and brings guests inside Markarfljót canyon. Book a whale-watching experience in Skjálfandi Bay. Family-run Friends of Moby Dick recently introduced tours in that region and other tour operators include Gentle GiantsNorth Sailing and Húsavík Adventures.

Cultural Attractions

Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies offers visitors a glimpse into the Icelandic language with its new World of Word exhibition. Medieval manuscripts come to life through the use of immersive technology. Kópavogur Natural History Museum recently expanded its permanent exhibition, Chronicles of Earth. Museum entrance is free. Bakkastofa Cultural Centre in Eyrarbakki hosts a variety of performances including live music and storytelling, giving guests an introduction to Iceland’s heritage.

Travelers can expect new and upgraded lodging options available throughout the country, including Skáld Hotel, Heiðin Houses, Höfði Lodge and Hotel Akureyri.

Wellness Updates

Laugarás Lagoon will debut in The Golden Circle this September. The two-level retreat offers a variety of bathing experiences, forest saunas, two swim-up bars and a restaurant. Laugarvatn Fontana Geothermal Baths recently completed a refurbishment with expanded facilities. Sky Lagoon recently debuted a second sauna with the country’s largest single-pane glass window overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
