New Ways to Experience Bike Tennessee

See Tennessee by bike — you now have more options than ever. Last month, Bike Tennessee, an initiative overseen by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, announced the addition of 37 new gravel cycling routes to its lineup, bringing its total number of routes to nearly 90 and adding more than 1,000 miles of terrain for cyclists to explore. All in all, Bike Tennessee offers options to traverse more than 1,800 miles across 50 counties and a vast array of landscapes.

The routes were developed in partnership with professional route developer and cycling guide Shannon Burke, and you can now easily access the new gravel routes through the Ride with GPS app. Each route offers detailed navigation, elevation profiles, terrain details and route insights, such as waypoints and hidden gems. Riders can also customize routes based on their skill level or riding preferences.

Bike Tennessee first launched in 2024 and aims to attract a growing number of cycling travelers, while boosting the state’s outdoor economy. In 2024, Tennessee’s outdoor economy generated $15.6 billion, ranking fourth in the Southeast.
