We’re at the point of the year where it seems like every travel brand is trying to predict what exactly we can all expect when traveling next year, and Hilton is no exception. The brand released its 2026 trends report last month, proffering some interesting insights.
One big prediction for 2026? Travelers are looking for trips that allow them to decompress and get away from the stressors of their normal lives. While this isn’t necessarily anything new (what is a vacation otherwise, after all?), Hilton found travelers make very specific changes to their travel along these lines.
For example, travelers attending a family trip are planning solo travel days before or after the family time and, during group trips, travelers are likewise planning solo activities. More than half of travelers in one survey said they’d be interested in a silent retreat or spiritual retreat, and some travelers are even going on business trips just for a chance to get away on their own.
Another big finding? While avid travelers have, in the past, found ways to combine work and travel (see: bleisure), some are starting to prioritize the latter over the former. Hilton reported 60 percent of travelers want to take an extended break from work to travel, and nearly half said they’d leave a job if denied vacation time.
