Yes, you read that right: One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is coming to Chicago this September, and no, there’s no major transportation of monuments involved. Rather, this VR-based experience from Excurio brings guests back in time to ancient Egypt, when the Great Pyramids of Giza were new to the world.

This 45-minute, free-roaming experience means you can wander through the pyramids’ chambers, passageways and hidden spaces. You’ll also venture into the tomb of Pharaoh Khufu, built more than 4,500 years ago during the 4th Dynasty and, until now, a place forbidden to the public. Decipher hieroglyphs, relive the reign of pharaohs and more.
The experience, called Horizon of Khufu is currently on tour in Montréal, Canada, but the VR innovation comes to Chicago’s EXP Rosemont next month thanks to Excurio.

Excurio has produced many other unique and creative installations through VR, art and storytelling. Its Space Explorers: THE INFINITE is now on tour internationally. This large-scale, immersive production was inspired by NASA missions, built on real footage captured aboard the International Space Station. Blur: A Promise of Immortality is on tour across Asia and will soon travel internationally, giving visitors the chance to explore the state between life and death and fact and fiction through mixed-reality theater.
