Dining/Entertainment

In an age where destinations vie for coveted titles, claiming any such foodie nickname is an honor, especially in the world of ramen. But that’s exactly what Torrance has achieved. The Southern California city is the ramen capital of the region thanks to its rich Japanese culture. In fact, the city even has its own Ramen Trail Map.

So, where should you go for some top-notch ramen in Torrance?

Ko-Ryu Ramen

This cozy shop is popular for its wide variety of flavors and unique dishes. Low-key and affordable, this is a local favorite. Inside, look for the Legends Wall of Fame to see who has braved and succeeded at the Ko-Ryu spicy ramen challenge.

Ramen Josui

On the northern edge of the city, this restaurant boasts house-made ingredients like soba noodles, la-yu sauce and Josui stock. Perhaps one of its coolest features is its drive-thru ramen, yakitori and rice bowls at Shin-Sen-Gumi.

Torrance Yokocho

Named after the narrow, lantern-filled lanes running between main streets on Yokocho island, this ramen spot is one of the city’s most popular. Ramen is served here from nine different lanes, creating both a delicious and authentic night out.

Ramen Yamadaya

Beloved for its 20-hour pork bone broth, this ramen restaurant not only serves up tasty ramen dishes but also offers a great selection of sushi and other classic Japanese dishes.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Originally opened in Japan, this spot is considered one of the most authentic ramen restaurants in the country. Every bowl of traditional tonkotsu ramen is handmade from scratch. It’s a true taste of Hokkaido.

Ramen Izakaya Alido

Expect Japanese-style appetizers from Osaka; fresh salads; and a diverse range of sake, wine and shochu. One of its most popular ramens? The Spicy Red Miso Ramen and, for spice lovers, the spiciest Shisen Ramen.
