Brasilia has a rich culture when it comes to art and some of the best tourist spots are inside the museums. Here are a few worth checking out next time you’re in town.
Museu de Valores is housed inside of a bank, so security is pretty tight. It should be, though, because the museum displays a history of the country’s gold and coin. All of the inscriptions are in Portuguese, but you can find a tour guide to walk you through it.
Museu de Catetinho is actually a preservation of the first official residence of President Juscelino Kubitschek during the city’s initial construction, which is why it’s located slightly out of town. It still has many of the original items in the home during his stay, giving great insight into the history of the area.
Senado Federal History Museum
The Senado Federal History Museum is a specialty museum. Its focus is on the workings of the government and some of its most famous officials, making it the perfect place to learn about government in Brazil.
Banco do Brasil Cultural Centre
Banco do Brasil is the largest and most popular cultural gallery in Brasilia showcasing artwork, including paintings, sculptures and interactive displays from throughout the country’s history. There is no permanent collection in the building so when you go it’s always a surprise.
