Top 5 / Asia

Tibet is a wonderful place overflowing with history and religion. It is the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism, home to picturesque scenery and the highest region in the world. If you visit, make sure to check out these five unforgettable sites.

Potala Palace

This huge palace is great for getting immersed in Tibetan culture. There are sculptures, Buddha statues, murals and religious jewelry that will help you learn more about Tibet’s history. To preserve the beauty of Potala, the number of travelers allowed inside is limited every day.

Samye Monastery

Another important place to visit is the monastery. This is the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism and many travel here for religious purposes. It is set in a charming valley surrounded by mountains. Samye is a must-visit for anyone going to Tibet.

Mt. Everet Base Camp

Mt. Everest is every adventure traveler’s dream. This is not an easy site to get to and you will most likely be affected by altitude sickness so be prepared. It is also somewhat expensive for this outing, but the experience is worth it.

Jokhang Temple

Jokhang Temple is a sacred temple for the Tibetan people. It was the first Buddhist temple in Tibet and considered the most sacred and important. Jokhang is part of Potala Palace, an easy place to access for travelers.

Lake Yamdrok

Lake Yamdrok is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake and surrounding area is gorgeous. Many people visit it for the tranquility of the landscape, and it gives travelers a break from the historical attractions.
