The English county of Surrey is famous for its leafy green countryside, with charming villages and some amazing pubs. Here are five of the best to check out on your next visit.
The White Horse, Shere
Shere draws plenty of visitors to its picturesque surrounds, and The White Horse is the best pub in the village. Make sure to try one of the legendary roast dinners.
The Wheatsheaf, Esher
This pub on the green has been serving drinks and food since the 1700s. The historic venue is known for its friendly atmosphere and is found near the Sandown Racecourse.
The Black Swan, Ockham
It is certainly off the beaten path but that only adds to the charm of this true country pub. Stop in at the nearby RHS Garden Wisley after lunch for a nice day out.
Ye Olde Six Bells, Horley
This historic pub sits next to an old church near the town of Horley. Spread over two floors, this warren-like venue is great for hibernating out of the winter chill. The roast dinners draw fans from all over the county and beyond.
Botley Hill Farmhouse, Warlingham
For the past 500 years, this pub has been serving happy customers on the Titsey Estate, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the North Downs. In fact, you can drink in the amazing views over the downs, whether you’ve made a special trip here or stopped off on a walk or cycle along the nearby trails.
