W San Francisco recently unveiled its new, original mural, STANDING TOGETHER, created by renowned Mexican American muralist Anavictoria Avila. Debuting July 18, the piece was created in partnership with the local San Francisco community during the hotel’s annual What She Said: Women in Art speaker series. The mural will now serve as a permanent installation at the hotel’s entrance in tribute to unity and the amplification of underserved voices.
W San Francisco hosted a celebration of the installation on the day it was unveiled, with live music; bites and sips; and remarks from hotel leadership and members of the local arts community, including Avila. Wine was provided by Teneral Cellars, with specialty cocktails from SIA Whiskey. Avila herself unveiled the mural before music from Chulita Vinyl Club.
The mural is a compilation of paint strokes from participants and attendees of What She Said, which took place in May 2025 and featured discussions with artists and community leaders on advancing women in the San Francisco arts scene and beyond.
Avila, known as “AnaV,” is a Bay Area muralist and painter deeply connected to her Mexican-American and California roots. Her large-scale art is a form of healing and visibility for the experiences of Latiné families, the working class and other resilient communities. She elevates the beauty of overlooked spaces by mixing Mexican patterns and symbols with all the nuances that unite communities through colorful compositions that inspire collective growth, perseverance and hope.
