Did you know New York boasts more ski areas than any other state in the country? All across the state, ski areas welcome beginner and expert (and even Olympian!) skiers alike with a range of experiences for all types of travelers.
Advanced skiers are going to want to head to the Adirondacks to ski at Gore Mountain or Whiteface Mountain Ski Center. The former is the largest skiable area in the state overall, with more than 110 trails across four peaks. Meanwhile, Whiteface is known for its Olympic legacy, acting as a venue in both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. It offers advanced skiers the highest vertical drop on the East Coast, but still provides more beginner-friendly skiing, too.
If you’re in the Finger Lakes, Greek Peak Mountain Resort provides 45 trails and 11 glades, plus terrain parks and snow tubing, for something for everyone. The resort is way more than just snow, though. It also offers an indoor waterpark, hotel with ski-in and ski-out access, and full-service spa.
Then, if you’re in the Catskills, Windham Mountain Club likewise has trails, terrain parks and snow tubing, but also a great après ski experience. Also in the Catskills, Belleayre Mountain is a favorite for families.
