Each summer, for a short window, you can actually sleep in Ireland’s oldest university, Trinity College Dublin. Best known for its grand library and Book of Kells, the university opens its doors to those wishing to stay on site.
Accommodations vary depending on the room type and building, but rooms can include original architectural features like heavy timber doors, stone staircases and Roman numerals in place of room numbers. Other areas, like Printing House Square, are also available for guests wishing for more contemporary facilities while still staying on campus.

If Trinity College’s own reputation isn’t enough to convince you to book a stay, the university’s central location in Dublin might win you over. The campus lies within short walking distance of many of the city’s main cultural and retail areas. And, of course, you’re next door to the Book of Kells and Long Room, one of the most-visited cultural attractions in Ireland.
For breakfast, enjoy a meal at the historic Buttery, also located on campus. And, with your stay, you’ll also enjoy discounts at Trinity Gift Shop and all food and beverages in any of the Trinity cafés and restaurants.

Trinity College Dublin was founded in 1592 as a Protestant university during the Tudor monarchy in Ireland. The university has housed the Book of Kells, one of the most famous illuminated manuscripts dating to 800 A.D., since 1661; the Brian Boru harp, a 14th-century early Irish harp used as a model for the Guinness logo and coat of arms of Ireland; and a copy of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic since 1916.
The Long Room, built in the 18th century, is the university’s main library, housing many Irish artifacts and documents.
