Perth is the fourth most populous city of Australia, and the most isolated, sitting on the west coast of the country. Here’s our guide to navigate the city withabout $120 Australian dollars.

Most of Perth’s attractions are located around the city area, which is accessible by their extensive public transportation network operated by Transperth. Circular zones expanding from the city determine the cost of your ticket, though a standard DayRider pass costs only $11.80. You can also get free bus and train rides around the city center in what is called the Free Transit Zone.

While taking advantage of the free rides, make a stop by the Perth Cultural Centre, home to several cultural institutions like the Art Gallery of Western Australia, which is free to enter but asks for a voluntary donation. The museum focuses on indigenous art, but if you want something more modern, check out the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.

Just south of the city is Fremantle, which is its own town but often mistaken as part of Perth. The Fremantle Markets are some of the most popular destinations in the area, with more than 150 vendors selling local produce, indigenous art and handicrafts. The markets are also famous for their artists and buskers.

While in the area, consider a stop by Didgeridoo Breath, dedicated to the iconic Australian wind instrument. The store offers lessons and workshops for players of all skill levels, and they will even get beginners up to speed with a free, 15-minute session.
